It was a dark and stormy night (no really, there was even hail!) and we were in a hurry, and hungry. I actually considered McDonalds (shudder) before Mr CDS had a brainwave – why don’t we drop into the mall and get burritos? Not a sentence often uttered by the old mate, but it works for me. Macquarie Shopping centre is just another mall really, but it’s major draw card (for me) is that it has a Mad Mex. I’ve been to Mad Mex before (at their Surry Hills franchise) and enjoyed it then. It’s very similar to Guzman Y Gomez – eerily similar in some ways.
We used an Entertainment Book voucher so for $10 we got two burritos. The meat (chicken for me, pork for the mister) is moist and tasty, and bulk is provided in the form of rice ‘n beans, cheese, sour cream and pico de gallo salsa. It sounds hefty and it is, though I’d still rate these far higher on the healthful scale than most other fast foods.
My (extra cheesey) summary: brilliant burrito bargain.
Total date cost: $10 ($20 without voucher)
Total date rating: 4/5 (so easy, quick, cheap and delicious)

Comment by pearlypop September 21, 2009 @ 1:25 pmhave you ever considered seeing a show at the oepra house? some of their dances and plays and things can be quite inexpensive and a lot of fun.
hi pearly pop! thanks for your kind words. i am a huge fan of the Opera House and i know they have good deal sometimes, especially for people under the age of 27. unfortunately all my Opera House visits this year have been for the Australian Ballet which is not quite so cheap. although they are in my ever-loved Entertainment Book i think! so that could be a future post!
Comment by lindseyclare September 21, 2009 @ 4:45 pmI agree that Mad Mex is just a bit better than Guzman Y Gomez. Unfortunately, there’s no Mad Mex location near me, so I usually go for Guzman Y Gomez.
Great blog BTW.

i think they similar enough that it doesn’t matter too much. burritos in general are win, so at least you have one source near you!
